Ever since the station, Ivy had been keeping very much to herself. She'd known she would be in trouble, but it was more the whispers and accusations of her own people than the disapproval of the commander that had her apart and alone.
Today she was working with a sapling that had been contaminated by spores. The nature of the spores was a symbiotic relationship, but she new the little tree would never survive. It was too young. But she did what she could, sitting next to it and encouraging the tree to survive and the fungus to hold off.
She only looked up when she heard the doors and footsteps. A smear of dirt on her cheek and a few stray leaves in her hair, she almost looked like a plant herself.
"Hello? she said quietly.

She moved closer and the vines reached for him and one caressed his cheek as another went still and a flower budded and bloomed.
"Do you want help?"

Date: 2021-09-09 08:05 pm (UTC)"Oh, I got my shrink and my meds... But you're here, so apparently none of it is working," Klaus laughed. He leaned in and touched the flower. It was pretty. She was pretty.

"Eat it," she said. "It'll calm you down, sweetie."

Date: 2021-09-10 05:24 am (UTC)Klaus took it. "I can't eat hallucinations, honey..." But then he touched it. And he felt it.
"Is... Is this real?" Or had he lost it completely?

Date: 2021-09-10 09:59 am (UTC)"It's very real," she assured him. "It's just a solgerfruit. It'll help. Try it."

Date: 2021-09-10 10:11 am (UTC)He took the fruit and took a bite. "This is delicious..."
"I'm sorry... It's just, you're like a dream and I didn't think it could be real. So much shit isn't real."
"I mean...its the two of us, right? No one else?"

Date: 2021-09-10 11:34 am (UTC)"What kind of dream, sweetie?" she asked. She could tell the relaxing effects were creeping up on him.
A gardener walked past and Ivy smiled at her, which was met with a frown. Ivy's smile fell.
She wondered if she should assure him, but instead awaited the answer.

Date: 2021-09-10 09:46 pm (UTC)"Oh, if I get the wrong meds I get trippy. That sort of dream. You're beautiful and with the vines.... I thought I was tripping."
"But you're real. So, that's good."

Date: 2021-09-10 11:36 pm (UTC)Ivy smiled, let out a little giggle, then reached out to touch his face.
"You're sweet," she said. "I'm Ivy."

Date: 2021-09-11 06:20 pm (UTC)"Thank you. I like it," she said. "Do you want a tour? We just put in a fish pond for a new hydroponic system..."

Date: 2021-09-11 07:49 pm (UTC)"Yeah, sure!" Klaus said, happily. He did like it when the mess of him didn't scare people off. "I'd love to see your pond."

Date: 2021-09-11 11:40 pm (UTC)Ivy took his hand in both of hers and led him deeper into the greenery. Beyond the beds with fresh sprouts growing was a system of pipes and pools. There was a large tank with duckweed and lily pads on top. She took him to the edge and beneath the surface were shimmering gold and orange and black fish. Seeing someone there, the fish came to the surface and mouthed at the air in search of food. Ivy reached in her pocket and pulled out fresh peas.
"Would you like to feed them?" she asked, offering the veg.

Date: 2021-09-13 11:00 am (UTC)"Yeah, I'd love to," Klaus said and accepted the peas. "Hi there, little ones," he announced as he threw some in the pond.

Date: 2021-09-14 12:53 am (UTC)The fish swarmed the surface, churning and thrashing as every pea was snapped up.
Ivy laughed softly.
"They're always so eager. You'd think we never feed them."

"Thank you!" she said brightly. "It's really come along since I got here."

Date: 2021-09-16 07:17 am (UTC)"I don't think I ever appreciated it..." Klaus said, happily. And of course that was when the hallucinations began and his smile died on his face.

"Klaus?" Ivy asked gently. She laid a light hand on his arm. "Sweetie?"

Date: 2021-09-19 07:38 am (UTC)"Oh, it's nothing," Klaus said. We're they really dead people? Was it still his mind or were the ghosts. "Got some more potent little flowers for me?"

Date: 2021-09-19 04:45 pm (UTC)Ivy stroked his cheek.
"If you tell me what's wrong, plants have the capability to help, sometimes even cure. And I can make anything grow."
She paused and smiled at him.
"What's the matter, Klaus?" she asked gently.

Date: 2021-09-21 02:11 pm (UTC)"Oh, my brain is broken. I hallucinate people," Klaus said. "Dead people. Though, I saw this guy's dead boyfriend the other day... So maybe I'm not hallucinating them and I really see dead people. Not sure which of those two is worse..."
