She was bored and feeling a little twitchy. And it was the weirdest impulse for her to go to Hannibal. He could always settle her head.

She rolled up and parked and saw Eliot coming out of the building and she knew he'd been in to talk to Hannibal.

She should talk to Hannibal.

But heat boiled in her belly.

Ivy got out, car still on, and pointed at him.

"You!" she accused. "We need to talk."

But Eliot didn't leave. Instead he stood up once he was free, and in a moment in which he looked so much like a Magician, he made complex hand gestures and a beautiful dome of shimmering light settled around them as Eliot crouched down in front of Klaus. Complete privacy, the world outside the dome sparkling as if they were looking through stained glass.

"Do you love me?" Eliot asked as he began to very slowly untie Klaus' wrists.

God, he was pretty when he was all magician-y. His abilities were so beautiful. He was so beautiful.

And Klaus heart skipped a beat when Eliot did not leave, but instead chose to help him out. "I love you," he promised. "God, I love you so much it hurts."

"But you don't believe that I love you," Eliot said as he freed Klaus' hands, and then rubbed his wrists.

Klaus shook his head a little. He couldn't say it. It sounded pretty stupid. But he didn't know how Eliot could love him, if his whole thing (ghosts and death) were so horrible.

"What can I do?" Eliot pleaded. "What can I do to prove that I love you? What can I do to make you happy enough that you want to stay?"

"I don't want to leave, Eliot," Klaus said. "I definitely don't want to leave you. I want all the stupid things married people do. With you."

"And if I asked you to take more care with the possessions?" Eliot said softly.

[eliot_thespectacular]

"Then why did you leave?" Eliot asked, holding his hands and pleading up at him. "Why did you ignore my calls?"

"Because I didn't want to face you, Eliot. I thought you'd be angry and disappointed and... I didn't want to face that. Okay? I'm a coward. Nothing new."

"You thought I'd be angry?" Eliot said. "Because we fought? It's not... it's not because you saw me with Robbie? Because you saw the collar?"

"I thought you were happy with him... I didn't want... to see that," Klaus said. "Though the million dollar collar didn't help, you know."

[eliot_thespectacular]

"I didn't keep it," Eliot sighed. "I gave it back. I'm sorry you saw that. But you believe me, don't you?"

"I believe that you didn't want me to see it," Klaus said, wryly. "Look, if you say he's nothing but a good fuck, I believe you."

"The first time I met him I made sure he knew I was in love with someone else," Eliot said quietly.

"Didn't stop him claiming you," Klaus said. "Didn't stop you indulging him."

[eliot_thespectacular]

"He didn't claim me, it was just... playing. I told you, I just wanted out of my head."

"Fine, man," Klaus gave up. "Won't ask him the same question though."

He waved his own stupid remark away and looked at Eliot. "So... what do we do?" He asked, or pleaded more like.

"Can't we just go home," Eliot said softly, twining their fingers together.

Klaus nodded; he wanted that. But...

"I'm afraid you're going to ask me to stop." He meant he was afraid of his answer.

Eliot's face fell a little. Just because... well. Klaus didn't seem willing to budge at all. No compromise. If it was Eliot or ghosts, he chose the ghosts.

But then he said, "Klaus, as I said, I want you. So if my choice is nothing, or you when you're occasionally not you, I guess I'll risk the latter."

See? There was that disappointment again. "I can... tone it down. Do it less often," he offered. He just didn't know if he could make that promise. "Or... not do it at home."

"I'm willing to compromise," Eliot said quietly. Even if Klaus might not be.

"I'm disappointing you again," Klaus said quietly. He felt really bad about that.

[eliot_thespectacular]

"It's not disappointment exactly," Eliot said softly. " I never had any intention of asking you to choose me or the ghosts, but... maybe it stings, a little. I'll get over it."

Klaus still didn't like it. "I can quit," he blurted out. "I can stop doing it. I'll find another job and I won't let anyone possess me. Okay? I'll... I'll find another way to get some peace."
