Ivy gave zero fucks about just showing up unannounced. But usually Klaus was there and she simply snatched him away to have some fun.

Today she'd brought a little gift. She pounded on the door then held it out so it would be the first thing Klaus saw. He'd complimented Penny, so when she had a baby, Ivy thought Klaus would be a good dad. She was still just a little pod. Her mouth had form but hadn't opened yet, but her eyes were wide and alert.

The second the door cracked open, she shouted-

"Surprise!"

Eliot opened the door, saw what was there, and scrambled backwards in alarm. "What the fuck?"

"Oh," she said in disappointment. "This is for Klaus. It's a plant. It's not scary," she added flatly.

[eliot_thespectacular]

"Is it...?" Eliot said, watching its little mouth move. "A plant?"

[poison_isley]

"Of course it's a plant," she laughed. "Right now she's living off the rest of Penny's roots, but soon she'll be ready for cheeseburgers. Isn't she adorable?"

"Precious," Eliot said, not wanting to upset her. "I uh, I'm sure Klaus will appreciate a... pet."

She sucked in a cringing breath through her teeth.

"Companion. Please," she said, then walked right in to make herself at home. "So where is the loser?" she asked then as she poured herself gracefully into the chair she liked best.

"I'm not sure," Eliot said. "You could text him..." He eyed the plant, and then looked to her. "And you can wait. Of course."

"I'll wait," she said. "Look, she's not going to bite you. She doesn't even have teeth yet. God."

It wasn't really clear if she was comfortable because she was here a lot, (which she wasn't?) Or if she just dominated whatever room she was in.

Eliot had the feeling that she didn't like him. Which... he found kind of vexxing, because why?

"Can I get you anything?" he offered.

"Does Klaus have any of that raspberry probiotic kombucha left?" she asked, smiling at him in a way that never quite touched her eyes. She was so used to the men in the lives of the people she cared about being absolute shitheads that poor Eliot got her distrust without even trying.

"I think so..." Eliot walked into the kitchen and bent over the fridge, looking for a moment and then grabbing a bottle. He walked back over and handed it to her, then sank down onto the couch.

"Thanks, sport," she said before taking a sip.

"You found a job yet?" she asked. Oh, she knew all kinds of things about Eliot. She and Klaus had no secrets.

"Yes," Eliot said. "I'm working at an art gallery." Why did he feel like she was judging him?

"Oh! I was just telling Klaus I saw the new paintings," she said, gesturing to the new stuff on the walls Fin had picked out. "That's pretty cool. So, what, day time hours? Better than bartending, huh?"

[eliot_thespectacular]

Eliot nodded. "Yeah, the owner of the place only works in the evenings, so I open up and keep things going during the day... it's not terribly busy. And I'm a decent salesman, apparently."

[poison_isley]

"Good," she nodded. "And are you bangin' newFin?"

No judgment, just curious so she could have shitloads of ice cream and kleenex for Klaus...because that would be inevitable. She was sure of it.

Eliot looked at her for a moment and then said, "No," and nothing else.

Because it was none of her damn business.

"Cool. Because your husband loves you. A lot," she told him. "And I don't know if he told you, but this is a thing. You know?"

[eliot_thespectacular]

Eliot didn't know how much of a thing it could be when Klaus was still sleeping with Willy.

"I'm glad Klaus has friends looking out for him," was all he said.

"I worry about him, you know? He's had a super shitty life and he's making changes. He needs support. But there's some things..."

She trailed off for a second to pick her words.

"Just because he doesn't say he wants things...it doesn't mean he doesn't want things."

Eliot looked at her for a second and then said, "I'm trying to be supportive. I know he's upset that I'm not embracing his new powers or whatever, but in the meantime I'm having nightmares about slitting his throat. I'm trying."

Now, she was no shrink, but she'd spent enough time with Harley to know a thing or two. And Eliot locking onto Klaus's power was...interesting.

"Huh. Okay," she said. "I mean, I'm sure your support for that means a lot. Actually a lot. He thinks you hung the moon, you know."

Which instantly made her biased against Eliot, through no fault of his own. She just...knew some people.

"Really? I was starting to worry he'd said something about me to make you dislike me," he said bluntly.

[poison_isley]

"He sings your praises," she replied, definitely not impressed. "And in my experience. when someone's so over the top for their man, that man has commitment issues. And I'm just looking out for my boy, see?"

[eliot_thespectacular]

Commitment issues? What the fuck?

"Your boy and I are fine," he said.

[poison_isley]

"Good," she said firmly. Keep it that way she thought.

She took a sip of her kombucha.

"So everything's just hunky-dory at the old homestead, huh? It's kind of funny how there's like nine people who live here and I only ever see one at a time. Klaus. You. Fin. I don't even know who else..."

[eliot_thespectacular]

"Hex," Eliot said. "Which makes four. Well, five now, with..." He gestured to the plant.

"Klaus is going to have to name her. I wouldn't trust Frank and Penny to name a baby," she said brightly. Then she looked at Eliot.

"But someone named a baby 'Hex'? Human people did that to a child?"
